Job Vacancy: Head of Audience Development

Times of Malta is seeking to engage an audience development executive to lead the cultivation of new audiences and engagement of existing ones, as well as spearheading digital thinking within the newsroom

This will be a key role in the digital development of Times of Malta.

The successful candidate will develop initiatives using the publication’s content to support its new subscription strategy. These will include its promotion on social media, search, newsletters and push notifications.

The individual will also have primary responsibility for drawing insights from performance data relating to Times of Malta journalism. This will involve offering day-to-day advice to editors and journalists on stories, and providing a wider overview relating to Times of Malta’s digital content strategy.

Alongside this, the head of audience development will support the digital transformation of the newsroom by, for example, offering training for journalists on how to boost their social media profiles, giving guidance on digital storytelling techniques and sharing the latest thinking on digital journalism.

The successful candidate will ensure these insights are shared across the whole business and be a conduit between the editorial team and their commercial colleagues.

Reporting to the editor-in-chief, the head of audience development will be a hands-on strategist, data-driven and passionate about developing the digital future of Times of Malta.
